need free barcode font 39 that has : sign recognized
Hello,
I am looking for a free bar code font 39 that recognizes the : sign. I downloaded extended 3 of 9, and some other ones and they apparently don't support that sign. Also I need the underscore sign. I am using a excel sheet - and "*"&A1&"*" in cell B1 and format that cell with bar code font.
When I use the underscore character now It creates a space.
Thank you,

I've found a site which offers a small package containing two TrueType variants of a Code 39 font: one contains just the regular characters, the other contains the exte3nded set, using double-width glyphs; go to http://www.barcodesinc.com/free-barcode-font for details.

Thanks,
one last question:
The not extended font I am using now I use "*"&A1&"*" in the cell B1 to format the barcode to be able to be read by the scanner. I have been trying to download some extened fonts and I can't get them working- and I am wondering if I should format different ? and also should I be typing in (/Z) ? (:)?
Thanks again- any comment appreciated
I am gone for a couple of days - but I will try this one

If you use a standard Code 39 font (containing 44 characters), your 'input' data in the cell would need to be the two characters /Z in order to obtain the barcode symbol representing the colon character.
But if you use an 'extended Code 39' font, your input data in the cell would only need to include the single character : in order to obtain the same barcode glyph.
I assume that you'd need to program your scanner to tell it to interpret the barcode as an extended one, rather than a standard one, if you wanted to include such characters - this will be the case regardless of which font you use.
Similarly, if you were calculating a checksum character: with the standard character set, you'd calculate a modulo-43 checksum; I'm not sure how this would need to be changed (if at all) were you to choose to use the extended set. As the checksum character is optional, it probably won't be an issue anyway.
