VPN connection to Windows Server 2003
I have a Mac Book Pro with OSX 10.5 installed.
I have been able to connect to my windows server vpn through a vodafone 3g usb dongle with no problems.
When I try to connect from home through my ISP (orange) I get the following in my log
08/08/2008 20:49:56 pppd[472] PPTP connection established.
08/08/2008 20:49:56 pppd[472] Connect: ppp1 <--> socket[34:17]
08/08/2008 20:49:56 pppd[471] LCP: timeout sending Config-Requests
08/08/2008 20:49:56 pppd[471] Connection terminated.
Prior to this I have borrowed an identical Macbook pro and had been able to connect to the same VPN from my home ISP with no problems.

Does your router have port 1723 open?
How are you authenticating to the server?

The router does have port 1723, I checked it again to make sure. I've been able to connect to the same VPN with my windows laptop with no problem.
I'm authenticating using the same windows admin user and password as I've always used.
