RAID 5 problem
Hi
i have a Dell 2800 with 7drives in RAID 5. I tried converting the chassis after which i cannot start WIndows any more. i get the error message Error loading Operating System. I have gone iinto the configuration manager, juggled the drives around, run consistency checks but i still cannot start Windows. Any help out there will be much appreciated

Have you been into the RAID management software? Are all your drives healthy? Are you sure you put them back in the same place? Is it a hardware RAID array? What RAID controller have you got?

hi
all the drives are online when i checked in BIOS RAID configuration. I DID NOT put the drives back in the same place, though. and Yes, this is a hardware RAID with controller PERC 4e/Di. hope to hear from you soon.

oh, yes, you have problems but with a bit of hard work and a systematic approach, you will probably get the drives back in correct sequence. That is your only hope and the only other alternative is a clean install. Label your drives! I've learnt the hard way.... good luck
