Cannot open ports on RV042
I cant get this router to port forward to my server for mail and rdp etc. The router is connected to a DLink DSL 502T which provides the internet connection. This is connected to the WAN port on the RV042. The firewall is configured to allow the passthrough of ports 25 3389 and 80 to various IP Addresses on the network. I have currently only got a laptop and pc connected for testing to try and get 3389 open. I can RDP from the laptop to the desktop which is on IP address 192.168.1.101. If I go to www.canyouseeme.org it cannot see 3389. Cant see what I'm doing wrong here but I'm not familiar with this router so I may be doing something obviously wrong.

Hmm, yeah, that should work. Does the RV042 have a default route/gateway to the D-Link?

That bit has been confusing me to be honest. at the moment I have it set as a gateway and RIP enabled. If I set it to router I lose internet conection. Should I set it to router and put in a static route to the adsl modem with RIP disabled?.
I believe you want it set as "gateway" but you need to make sure it has a default gateway on the WAN interface configured to the D-Link. You don't need RIP. The default gateway/route should be configured on the WAN1 interface settings.
Nevermind, if you can access the Internet, you have the gateway set properly.
Perhaps instead of using the DMZ feature on the D-Link, try port forwarding 3389 to 10.1.1.2 for grins.

10.1.1.2 is the wan side of the Linksys, 10.1.1.254 is the Dlink 502T. SSL and Mail at 1.1 and web at 201 and rdp at 101.

Found there is a tick box for enabling the port forwarding. Recreated port forwarding with a tick each time and it works. Cant think of any reason you would want to create a disabled port forward rule. Oh well. Thanks for the help.
