Intermittent connection issues...Cisco 3750 - devices

I'm experiencing intermittent connectivity to devices connected to a 3750 switches when users over a WAN are polling particular devices. The switches are connected to two core 6509s.
The interfaces are not flapping and nothing in the logs. Spanning tree port fast configured on all interfaces.

The uplinks ports do not have spanning tree portfast truck configured, could the problem be a very active spanning tree, i have'nt checked but are these symptonys of an active span tree.
I'm not sure that is causing it.   Problem is there's a lot of moving parts invovled in this.  What type of firewall are you using?  and how does your topology look like?
