I have this, but does not seem to work

foreach x (`ls -1 *default.template`)
out=`echo $x | sed s/template/real/`
echo $out
end

out is not command substituted right..

i expect for example, if we have two files as FILE1.default.template and FILE2.default.template in a directory, running the script in that directory should produce:
FILE1.default.real
FILE2.deafult.real
