Distributed Transaction between windows server 2008 (WEB) & Windows Server 2000 (Standard)

Last Modified: 2013-11-25
I have a web server running on Windows Server Web 2008 and a database server running on Windows Server Standard 2008. When initially trying to perform transactions from a WCF service with failure I decided to use DTCPing to establish what the problem was.

I am unable to successfully invoke RPC from on database server from the web server however the database server is unable to sucessfully invoke RPC on the web server. Firstly how do I resolve this error? The firewall service is disabled on both servers.

I have installed the Application Server --> Distributed Transactions on the Database Server however I cannot find this option on the web server. Is this required to successfully use DTC since DTCPing worked in the same manner before and after install of this feature on the DB server.
