Outlook deletes messages sent to myself

We run outlook 2003 on exchange 2003 server.

When one of our users sends a message to himself it flashes into the inbox then disappears. It does not go to junk email. It is deleted.

I have checked Junk email rules and any server side rules but nothing is setup there. I have checked the AV software and nothing alters when this is turned off.

I have checked the view and all messages are being seen.

We see the email notification in the bottom right hand corner that flashes up and then fades away but if we click it it says that the item no longer exists. So something is deleting the messages.

the user receives all other messages (at least I think he does - can't be certain because they may be being deleted) he certainly receives messages from others on the domain.

Is there anyone with a similar problem or any suggestions?

Hi, icontechsol.

Have you checked to make the user isn't using a view that doesn't show messages from himself?

No that's not it. I have checked the views and it is showing all messages. the really odd thing is that we see the notification that pops up in the bottom right corner, and If I am quick I can clck on that but it simply says that the message is no longer available - as if it has been deleted, so I believe there is some rule that is deleting messages sent to self, but there is nothing in ruls and alerts & nothing on the OWA rules so i am stumped!
You might want to try launching Outlook from the command line with the cleanrules and/or cleanclientrules switch.  Have a look at this page for more details: http://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/commandlines.htmhttp://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/commandlines.htm
great thats a really good ide. will try that

thanks
