We will soon be having a couple of servers running Mac OS (I'm not sure which one, but the latest I presume) in our environment. Some of these servers need to send SMTP mail.<br />
<br />
Since none of us know anything about Mac OS's (they will be managed by a third party), I was thinking of having the Mac servers send mail to one central Mac server, which would then send it on to our SMTP relays. <br />
<br />
In order to do this, this central Mac server needs to have some sort of SMTP server running on it. Can any Mac experts tell me if there is a Mac equivalent to Microsof'ts IIS SMTP virtual server we can install?<br />

Equivalent of IIS SMTP virtual server on Mac server OS's?

Interactions between email servers and clients are governed by email protocols. The three most common email protocols are POP, IMAP and MAPI. Most email software operates under one of these (and many products support more than one).  The correct protocol must be selected, and correctly configured, if you want your email account to work.
