questions on driver installation after XP was installed over Vista OEM on Lenovo T61
I just bought a Lenovo T61 laptop. Serial number: 7658CTO. It came pre-installed with Vista Home Basic but I wanted XP instead. I deleted the Vista partition and was able to successfully install XP but I've run into a roadblock. The XP drivers located on the Lenovo website do not seem install correctly on my machine. The wireless card is not recognized and I can't install the driver for it. There are probably 20+ items listed in my device manager as not having drivers such as PCI bus, USB, Network controler etc. How do I correctly install the drivers and get my hardware to be recognized, mainly the wireless card which by the way is Intel?
When you say that the drivers do not install correctly what do you mean? Do you get an error during installation? Does the download extract the files to a folder rather than installing the driver for you?
First install the chipset drivers and reboot. If you try to install anything prior to those, you might run into problems like this.
Did you try drivers from the link:
