raid 5 set lost
Dear
One of the system engineers has removed the disks of a raid 5 set (7 disks) and not noted the disk sequence. When replacing the disks the OS is no longer booting.
Is there a way of retrieving the data?
Thanks
Regards
Steve

Basically, I think reconstructing is for RAID level migration and online capacity expansion (with drives already installed in original correct slots). It is very unfortunate for you. However, the drives must remain on the same channel and be reinstalled in the same order as in the original configuration if removed. I think if you are able to do so then you will definitely get the data.
All the best.
