Looking for audio codec to read wav files.

hi,

I am trying to open a .wav file with windows media player and i got the following error message:

The audio codec identified by the format tag 8180 is required to play this file. To determine if this codec is available to download from the Web, click Web Help

i looked and could not find such an audio codec. i also tried to play it with quicktime and itunes.

I would like to recommend you to install K-lite Codec, which support up to 99% of audio and video.

This Should be help you.
wav files should be built in to media player - perhaps reinstall media player,
or the wav files is corrupt - try play it on another machine that is ok.

There is a program called TheRecord Player from fortherecord.com that plays these files. Our law clients receive these as court or deposition audio transcripts.
