No internet connection and firewall service will not start

I own a relatively new Dell Inspiron 1525 notebook.  Has worked fine for 1st 3 months.  Upon last log-in, i am unable to connect to my wireless internet via Netgear router.  The network center gives the statement "The dependency service or group failed to start."  Internet still works fine on all other computers.  Also, my firewall service will not start, and it does not give a reason why.  Have tried to solve problem through dellcommunity.com, but they have found nothing and all i know is that i do not have a virus.  Computer acts strange with objects on bottom bar in different places than before.

Also, i am not very knowledged in computers, so if you can simplify solutions somewhat it would be appreciated, thanks.

This error means a service did not start because one or more services that it depends on failed to start.

You will need to check the event viewer to see what services are not working.

To open the Event viewer right click on My Computer and select Manage.
In System Tools expand the Event Viewer section.
The error should be in either the Application or System section.
You are looking for either a yellow warning message or a red error message.
Double click on a message and look in the description. It should mention that a specific service did not start. Once you locate that service please post the name on here.

It may be a simple matter of restarting a dependent service.
You could also type services.msc in the run prompt. Check the list for any service that has failed in the status. List those on here too and we can let you know if they need to be restarted.
if your problem is recent, do a system restore to a previous date

When i check the event viewer, there are three recurring errors that involve the "service control manager eventlog provider" : TCP/IP Protocol Driver is not a valid Win32 application, Network Local Awareness is not a valid Win32 Application, and The Dependency Service or Group failed to start.  It does not mention anything about services not starting.

No services come us as having a failed status.

The 1st thing I attempted when i encountered the problem was a system restore to a previous date, which did not work.
>>  which did not work.   <<   what happened?
All it did was reset my desktop wallpaper, but the problems still persisted.
ok - but the  system restore did work without problems?
And you used a date before the problem started ?
yes and yes
try an earlier one then
also check for errors in device manager -  a bad network card?
When i checked the device manager the only warning statement was: The 6TO4 adapter is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device.
Restored system to an even earlier date, but same results.
which of these options am i downloading? there are 48 to choose from... just all of the drivers?
