With Word close, do a search for normal.d0tm file and rename it. Then open Word and let Word recreate the file. &nbsp;Then set the DOC option as posted above.<br />

no- well, we are not totaly convinced it works. &nbsp;Settings were not staying the way we set them- lint to save as .doc and line spaceing, etc &nbsp;even with hitting the set as default.<br />
We will end up trying it again i am sure<br />

we are using a script to set the setting for the users- Turns out Micro$oft does not save the normal.docx in roaming profiles - unless you set it to copy a ton of roaming data to the network.

We want to set Office 2007 to permantly (for now) save the files in .doc format- not .dotx<br />
We change the setting under bubble-word options-save-save files in this format<br />
It does not stay in the format we chose- reverts back to .dotx<br />
