Office 2007 not "saving" the "save files in this format" setting
We want to set Office 2007 to permantly (for now) save the files in .doc format- not .dotx
We change the setting under bubble-word options-save-save files in this format
It does not stay in the format we chose- reverts back to .dotx
any suggestions?
All 2007 patches applied.

With Word close, do a search for normal.d0tm file and rename it. Then open Word and let Word recreate the file. Then set the DOC option as posted above.
If no joy, repair Office. On the Help menu, click Office Diagnostics. > Continue > Start Diagnostics

Renaming normal.dotm file did not work?
ASKER
no- well, we are not totaly convinced it works. Settings were not staying the way we set them- lint to save as .doc and line spaceing, etc even with hitting the set as default.
We will end up trying it again i am sure

we are using a script to set the setting for the users- Turns out Micro$oft does not save the normal.docx in roaming profiles - unless you set it to copy a ton of roaming data to the network.
