Migrating from 2000 to 2003 domain.
We havce ADMT 3.0 setup on a 2003 DC, and it is pulling information from a 2000 DC. It pulls the users, passwords (we setup the password migration) and computers. However, when a user logs in they do not get their same screen / wallpaper / email / etc.
We thought we had this figured out but we were wrong.
What i want to acomplish - Move all users to a new domain, keep their same EVERYTHING (Outlook / Profiles documents / mapped network drives / etc...)
What we have done.
We have setup user migration from the old server to the new server. We checked everything that the ADMT documentation stated.
User Profiiles
1. Migrated Passwords
2. Target Account same as source and migrate users sid to domain.
3. Translate roaming profiles - update users rights and fix group memberships we did not check migrate the assoicated user groups.
Groups
1. Update user rights - fix memebership of groups - migrate group sids to target domain we did not check copy group memebers.
Computers
1. Checked - files and folders, local groups, printers, registry, shares, user profiles.
Not checked - user rights
2. We are unsure about replace or add - we have been using ADD
3. Exclude DnsHostName to avoide stale dns entries.
We are unsure about doing Secuirty Translations - we have done a few though

Help?
Have you considered changing the domain to 2003, then renaming it?

Migrating rights from one domain to a brand new one ... I just don't think that's going to work!

Yes i have thought about that. however, when you rename a 2003 domain it has to have the same ammount of domains as what you started with. I have 3 domains and i want to have 1 domain. So, i don't think thats going to work.
What im am refering too - http://www.petri.co.il/windows_2003_domain_rename.htm
In a Windows Server 2003 forest, you cannot:
Change which domain is the forest root domain. Changing the DNS or the NetBIOS name of the forest root domain, or both, is supported.
Drop domains from the forest or add domains to the forest. The number of domains in the forest before and after the rename/restructure operation must remain the same.
Rename a domain with the same name that another domain gave up in a single forest restructure operation

Then I don't have the answer for you.

Additional Info that i completely forgot about untill this morning. This domain is a 2008 domain the 2003 servers had been domain and forest preped to 2008. I Am now trying to use the ADMT 3.1 tool from the 2008 server to try to do the migrations to see if that solves it.

Why not add the 2003 DC, transfer all roles to it, then turn off the 2000 server? If everything runs happily for a few days, decommission the 2000 server.
After that you can upgrade the domain to the functional level you want and enjoy all the new-for-03 features.
