Raising the volume level of an audio file (mp3)
I used Free DVD MP3 Ripper to extract an audio file as an mp3 from a DVD. However, I have to raise the volume all the way up just to hear it at a normal volume. What software can I use to adjust the volume level of an audio file so that I don't have to raise the volume all the way just to hear it at a normal level? I have Nero Ultra 7, is there something in there I can use? If so, how do I do this? Thanks.

hmm, I dont quite agree with some of your references to my comments MerijnB,
a) Determining the volume by listening is very hard.<< in refs to this.
I looked at his audio problem from this angle:
mcpp661 used Free DVD MP3 Ripper to extract an audio file as an mp3 from a DVD.<< yeah well
On that,
I bet the actual DVD probably still has very good sound and it was altered after using Free DVD Mp3 ripper.
So my suggestion was well founded recording the actual DVD audio playing it in some dvd player such as power DVD probably put out a much better sound and Audacity also has volume controls.
dont you agree.
I slipped on winamp when I realized the audio came from a DVD and added that in later.
Cheers

depends on so much on the circumstances.
Big changes you will record analog audio, meaning you got DAC twice. That's not good for your audio quality.
Anyway's, I didn't understand from your post you wanted to 'record' the original DVD ("Well what I would do is play this cd in my fav media player")

I gave each of you points for the suggestions, but I found mp3gain the easiest and best of the bunch. Thanks all.
