How to insert binary data into BLOB field in MySql

Dein asked
Last Modified: 2013-12-17
Im trying to insert a memorystream into a MySql table.
When executing the MySqlCommand I get an 'You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near' error.
It seems as the generated sqlcommand with the binary stream is not formed correctly.

I have attached a peace of code to show how I do the insert.

What am I missing here?

I have searched the net and found some strange solutions where some escape characters in the blob should be replaced before saving. That sounds a little strange to me, there must be some other solution to this.

MySql version: 5.0
MySqlCommand cmd = new MySqlCommand("insert into tablename (blobfield) values(?blobfield)");
cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("blobfield", blob.ToArray());
// blob is a MemoryStream

  ImgTitle VARCHAR(255) NOT NULL Default 'Untitled',
  ImgType VARCHAR(255) NOT NULL Default 'png',
  Primary Key(ImgID)

I have tried with both BLOB, MEDIUMBLOB and LARGEBLOB with same result...

I assume your suggestion was reagarding using 'MEDIUMBLOB' or...?
