Galy driver for USB Joystick - VEC Foot Pedal

I have a USB foot pedal for transciptionists that I am trying to get working with a radiology archiving and retrevial system (RIS).  RIS takes its input from the game controllers portion of the OS which is typically configured to use the DB15 connector on the sound card's game port.  It gets plugged in and configured just like a typical 2axis, 4button joystick.

I found a refrence to a driver which is supposed to make this pedal appear in the game controllers applett and refers to it as a "Galy USB Joystick"

Does anyone know where I can get a Galy USB joystick driver?  Or if not, how about a 4 button-2 axis game driver for a USB joystick?

THe website where I found the snippet of instructions on how to use the USB foot pedal is here:  http://www.nch.com.au/hardware/setup/pedals.html#VPEUSB.  I called and talked with the support guy and he doesn't have the Galy driver.  Here is the instruction on the website for this pedal:

Professional Foot Pedal by VPE (USB)
Setup
Setting up the FPVPEUSB for Express Scribe is easy. Just follow the instructions below. It is a two step process, but if you have already completed USB setup or Games Port setup then please ignore Stage 1.

Stage 1:
To setup your VPE / VPedal USB pedal, you must firstly ensure that the pedal is talking properly to Windows:
Download and install Express Scribe.
Plug in the foot pedal to an available USB port on your computer.
Go to Start Control Panel and select Gaming Options. On the Controllers tab click on Add and Enable Galy USB Joystick.
Click OK and from the Controllers tab select Properties and choose the Test tab.
Press Play on the foot pedal, the display will light Buttons 1 & 2.
Press Fast Forward on the foot pedal, the display will light Button 2.
Press Rewind on the foot pedal, the display will light Button 1.
The foot pedal is talking to Windows correctly.
Stage 2:
To setup your VPE / VPedal USB pedal, you must now ensure that the pedal is talking properly to Express Scribe:
Open Express Scribe.
Go to Settings and choose Settings.
Click on the Control tab and select Use Foot Pedal Playback Control under Foot Pedal Control.
From the drop down box next to Port: choose GamePort1 or USBGame1.
From the drop down box next to No. choose 3-Pedal
Click on the "Foot Pedal Control Setup Wizard".
Follow the instructions on the screen.
The pedals should now be correctly installed.
For Mac OS X just plug them into the USB socket and run Express Scribe and they will be detected normally.

I think this may be some Windows 9x referrence but I'm not sure.

Thanks for your help!

In reading my post I see I forgot to tell a few things:
1.  I am using XP.
2.  I have express scribe installed.
3.  They call it a VPE pedal but VEC makes it and labels it under a couple of different names but they are the same stick.
4.  VEC does not have the drivers and I couldn't find any tech support numbers for them.  NCH (express scribe) is contracted to do support for them.

When you plug the pedal in does the "found new hardware" wizard pop up?  Does the device show up in Device Manager?  Are there flags on the device in Device Manager?  From your post it looks like the Galy driver may be part of the Express Scribe software because there is no native driver for such a device in XP.
Yes, the pedal installs OK as a regular HID device.  Express scribe recoginzes it as a "VEC USB-1" foot pedal.  We've been using it for about 6 months in express scribe just fine.  It is the RIS application that requires it to be visible and configured in Game Controllers.

It does not have any errors or flags visible in Device Manager.

Yes, Galy is not part of XP.  I tried adding a 2axis, 4button game controller but it only looks at the game port not USB ports.

Ok, I think I know whats going on.  You already have the pedal installed as VEC USB-1 foot pedal.  You can't have the same piece of hardware installed with 2 different drivers (the VEC and a joystick).  You may have to uninstall the Express Scribe software and foot pedal drivers and reinstall from scratch using the instructions you referenced.  You may want to try this procedure on another machine to verify it works before attempting it on your work machine.
Just curious, but if you are using Express Scribe to transcribe, why does the RIS need to recognize the foot pedal? We use a combination of Express Scribe and Winscribe. The foot pedal works in both applications and I don't recall downloading any specific third party drivers.
JohnnyCanuck:  I'll try using a different machine without Express scribe to get the Joystick drivers to work.

adminrg:  We are using express scribe to transcibe in windows but the RIS interface is web based and they decided to use the game controllers portion of the OS to interact with the web page.  I am not sure why because I am not a web programmer.... probably easier for them that way.

Regardless, the RIS software won't recognize the USB foot pedal.  back to the drawing board.
