Unable to install windows xp on Sony VAIO VGN-FZ150E

Im trying to install windows xp on this Sony VAIO VGN-FZ150E for my client. This laptop came originaly with windows vista home premium edition, but my client had installed winxp on that and have been running windows xp on this machine for about 8 months. He had some problem with the viruses and spyware. He wants me to format the hard drive and install win xp after the format. I tried to install the windows xp on this machine with different installation CDS. but after loading all the necessary drivers it stops and says "windows cant find a hard drive installed in this computer". I've taken the hard drive out and put it in a SATA enclosure and formatted and then put it back and tried to install windows xp but again after loading the drivers it says "windows cant find a hard drive installed in this computer".

What should i do to install windows xp professional on this laptop

the reason you cant find the hd is that xp doesnt have native sata hdd drivers installed
Option 1

you can go into bios and turn AHCI into compatibility mode, then install xp as it will recognise teh sata drive as an IDE and install the sata driver onc eyou have the OS installed

@slam69 i can go to bios but i dont know where to look for AHCL. Help plz
hmm they dont always call it ahci

do you have naything in there called sata management, you need to get it into compatibility AHCI mode

if you cant get it to do that skip stright to teh slipstream choice, its a bit longer but by far the cleaner and better way of doing it

it appears other people are having the same issue with the sony vaio not being able to turn the sata off, go for the slipstream disc, it soudns difficult but i promise you its not and im happy to help if you get stuck which you probably wont :O)

These drivers may help although I don't see your particular model there, but they are for the VAIO FZ1 series found in singapore.

@slam69 Im stuck in making a slipstream cd with sata drivers. i believe the page you referred me to has a lot of typographical errors http://www.maximumpc.com/article/How-To--Slipstream-your-XP-installation

Could you please guide me to make the slipstream cd with correct sata drives embedded.
@sparkmaker i have downloaded the mentioned drivers and copy that on to a flopply disk but when i try to install the windows it still says it cant find the hard drive. I believe the reason behind im using a usb floppy disk drive. I have checked in the bios setup option to check if it is disabled but i was unable to know if its enabled or disabled.

Thanks and best regards
Are you pressing f6 when prompted during the XP setup? This is what tells the setup you are introducing the SATA drivers from the floppy. This pic shows the f6 prompt at the bottom of the page.

@sparkmaker

I have made sure that i press the F6 key when it asks for the scsi or RAID driver. but that didnt make any difference. I'd attached a an external USB floppy drive.
not sure hwat you mean by typographical errors ive used that as a guide many many times and myself and the people i have posted it for as a guide have all found it fine ? however if you are struggling then heres another good guide

http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxp_sp2_slipstream.asp

if your still struggling can you please be more descriptive as to where you are struggling so i can guide you, do you have the correct sata driver as that is essential>
From the download files it looks to be an intel chipset. Since the USB floppy isn't working then you will need to slipstream the driver into the XP installation cd.
Here is a guide using nlite to slipstream the driver.
Check section2 "Processing with Nlite for the details. The SATA driver you downloaded earlier for the floppy is the extracted files you need to insert with Nlite in step 4 of the guide..

@sparkmaker--- my 3rd post details using nlite to slipstream the driver as does my last one
I know, I'm not trying to steal your thunder here.I'm just trying to clarify the steps when doing this specifically for Intel drivers. My link was not the same as yours so I'm not sure what the problem is.
I'm unable to install windows xp on this machine (coz i could not find the exact driver for sata hard disk). But i believe; after searching and viewing different forums, Slam69's solution is perfect the only problem is i dont have the correct drives. So i would consider slip stream cd the solution to the problem. and also request moderators to lock the question coz i dont know how to close a question. Thanks and best regards for everyone who contributed.
