IE 7.0 occasionaly missing toolbar, menubar, status bar, tabs

Often when I open Internet explorer all the bars are missing and I just get the Blue Title bar at the top. This happens maybe every second or third time I open IE. If I close it and try again suddenly all the bars are back. The bars that are there normally are: The URL bar, Menu bar, bar with tabs and status bar.

mintraas--The word "occasionally" could be a problem.
When IE7 first came out in final form, it showed no MenuBar and many things in the ToolBar area were in strange positions.  Some of that changed with IE7 downloads offered late last year.  But still some things seemed to be missing.  Here is a reference that gives more detail
http://wb7tjd.org/IE7/
There is also the procedure to right click on an empty spot of the ToolBar and check the MenuBar and StatusBar.  And you can add other items by right clicking on a blank spot on the ToolBar|Customize Command Bar|Add/Remove Commands...
ONCE YOU HAVE DONE THAT, YOU PROBABLY SHOULD ALSO CHECK 'LOCK THE TOOLBARS'.
In fact the last sentence may be the clue to your problem.  It should not happen, but if you do not Lock the Toolbars, the check marks may just disappear with time and the various settings revert to "absent".

Thanks for the reply, but this does not seem to be the problem. When I open an IE window all the bars is suddenly gone. If I close that window straight away and open IE again, suddenly all the bars are back. The toolbar has also the "Lock the toolbars" option checked.

But I should say that yesterday when this problem first coccured I got a lot of advertisment popups. It seemed as I had a virus or some adware on the machine. I scanned the machine with Symantec End user protection 11.0 and Ad-Aware and an advertisment program was found which caused the popups. This was removed but I don't know if this could be releated to how IE behave now. Maybe it's worth trying to reinstall IE?

I reinstalled IE7, ran a full antivirus scan in safe mode and also used Spybot Search & Destroy to clean out some other bugs. All of that togheter fixed the problem
