You said you've checked the obvious things, so I'm assuming you've checked to make sure none of the channels are muted in your sound settings. &nbsp;<br />

Headphone jacks have a tang that disables the speakers when the headphones are plugged in.<br />
Sometimes the tang gets bent back too far doesn't reconnect when the headphone jack is removed.<br />

have a packard bell easy note laptop.<br />
running XP.<br />
have no speaker sound but have perfect heahphone sound.<br />
plug in the jack it works perfect pull it out and silence.<br />
done all the usual things, drivers and such.<br />
