Event Viewer System Error " Schannel - Event ID 36881" ?
Hi i have been getting this error in the last 3 days. What is it? is it a nasty error? what can i do.
The description of that evet says: "The certificate received from the remote server has expired. The SSL connection  request has failed. The attached data contains the server certificate."

"...remote server..." what is that?  and "...SSL connection" ?

My laptop:  Dell XPS M1710
I use XP Pro SP2
I have a Home network  like this:
The Computer is on a LAN where these and few other computers connect to the internet
- I have control of the LAN, i am the Administrator.
- I connect to the internet via a combined Cable Modem + Router + Switch
a: Cable Modem - MOTOROLA SurfBoard Cable Modem Model SB5120
b: Router- LINKSYS WRT54GS firmware version v7.50.0
c: Switch- ENCORE ENH908-NWY+ 8 ports Nway Switch

thanks

schanel 36881 usually has to do with certificate services.  Are you also running a server at your house?

Thanks chavousc, but No, i have no server... i only have this home network, with One Laptop Dell  XPS, 2 Desktops Dell Inspiron and Dimension, and 1 workstation Dell Precision.  And what i do is i share some folders on all of them...

what are "certificate services" ?

I use Windows XP Pro SP2 with /3GB switch most of the time (for 3D application)
I notice that  this error started to reappear almost on the same days that i started to use Windows normally, i mean i booted without the 3GB switch... Can this have something to do?

And again my original question " Event Viewer System Error " Schannel - Event ID 36881-What is it? is it a nasty error? what can i do?

Ok, thanks Chavousc, so i just ignore it as you say.   When you say i am "connecting to some sites"  is that when i see a certain wbe page in internet explorer?

Can i get a second opinion on this if possible? if not i will jsut ignore as recommended by chavousc..

thanks

Microsoft Windows XP is the sixth release of the NT series of operating systems, and was the first to be marketed in a variety of editions: XP Home and XP Professional, designed for business and power users. The advanced features in XP Professional are generally disabled in Home Edition, but are there and can be activated. There were two 64-bit editions, an embedded edition and a tablet edition.
