Fatal error: Call to undefined function: printer_open()

We need to print from a web page a body of text that we cannot use window.open... because of formatting issues and header footer offset...

We are printing labels and need to configure margins etc...

using the pinter_open() function we get this error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: printer_open() in D:\root\path\file.php on line x

the code looks like this:

<?php

$fhandle = fopen("billmaterial.csv","rb");
//$contents = fread($fhandle, filesize("billmaterial.csv"));

$handle = printer_open();
printer_set_option($handle,PRINTER_MODE,"raw");
printer_set_option($handle, PRINTER_TEXT_ALIGN, PRINTER_TA_CENTER);

while (!feof($fhandle) ) {

$line_of_text = fgetcsv($$fhandle, 1024);

//print $line_of_text[0] . $line_of_text[1]. $line_of_text[2] . "<BR>";
printer_write($handle,$line_of_text);
}

fclose($file_handle);

//$output = eval($contents);

printer_close($handle);

header("Location: manage_menu.asp");
?>

can anyone help us as to why we get this error and whats the fix?

thanks in advance

You need the printer extension to be installed. See http://www.php.net/manual/en/printer.installation.php And the extension is only availabel for windows

You must enable php_printer.dll inside of php.ini in order to use these functions. Open up your php.ini file and add the line
extension=php_printer.dll

The dll can be downloaded from
