In Project server 2007 Full Farm back Restore but Project Workspace Failesd to Provisioned

Hello Project Server gurus,

i have a serious problem, yesterday we try to restore the full farm back of main prodcution envrinoment to our development envirnoment. Its restore the suceesfully but i project server workspace failed to provisioned.

I tried this process 3 to 4 times every time its failed to provision. i am writing down the steps which may clear the stuff you people.

1)I take full back from production servers (1 APP & 1 Backend database)
2) copy the backup files to the development servers (1 APP & 1 Backend database)
3) run the Sharepoint product and techonlogy wizards and dissconnect the server from server farm.
4) delete all database which were left undeleted in SQL Server.
5) Reset the IIS
6) run the Sharepoint the prodcut and techonolgy wizrad and creat a new server farm and coonect tot he databse.
7) After successfully creation of server farm, running the services through central admin(Project server & Search services)
8) got he operation adn click the restore from backup, giving the path, select the back verion, slecting the full farm back.
9) Choosing the new Configuration adn providing the new Database server name, Web Application URLs, Services accounts, Location of Database file.

10) its completed with 0 errors and o warnings.
11) all SSPs are recoverd and their admin site recovered and all user accounts recovered even
12) But when we go into the project workspace then in front of our URL its shows: "ailed to provisioned see logs"

i repeted this process 2 to 3 times either from stsadm or central admin.
But if i want to try create new workspace its created and working fine.

Hello waqas,

If you haven't already done so, you should read through the related TechNet articles including:

   http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc197610.aspx

Don't forget that in addition to the four Project Server databases, you also need to copy and restore the WSS Content database.  This is where the project workspaces are actually stored.

As I recall, it is necessary to stop the SharePoint Services Timer Service using the system Services admin tool before the WSS database can be restored.  Be sure to check this step...

Hi Bob

Thanks for your reply, I am wondering about it, when i stop the timer services then restore operation stoped in central admin.
May be i did not get your suggestion, can you please explain me about which timer services you talking, i stoped the timer service in administrator tools, then services and then windows sharepoint timer service.

Thanks

Hello waqas,

I normally used the SQL backup and restore tools to do this part.

Hello Bob,

basically i am aware / using the Sharepoint backup tool like Central admin or Stsadm.
But you are talking abou the Sql Restore.
if i restored the data bases in the Sql Server then how can we link it in our project server.
Or if you have any link or informative material please let me know.
thanks

Thanks Bob
Thanks for your guideline, But what i was saying that is right (the difference of Infrastructure Updates). What i did now, i un install the whole project server environment, i reinstall it install WSS SP1 & MPS SP1 but i did not install the infrastructure updates. Now we start the recovery its fine and each & every stuff restored. So i think restore option both environment must identical

Regards & Thanks
