user missing from ad, need to reconnect to mailbox

I have lost a user id in my AD.  the mailbox remains, but I cannot reconnect to it.  I cannot find the cleanup agent in my esm nor can i see how to disconnect the mailbox   what can i do.

i cannot see the cleanup agent in the ems.  do i need to be on exchange 5.5 sp4
So, you can re-create the user and then by Exchange Admin console you can reconnect the mailbox.

I have recreated the user without assigning and email box.  then I try to run the cleanup agent to red x the mailbox.  however, the cleanup agent does not appear after i right click on the mail box.  i have no ability to manually run the cleanup agent.  do i need to install sp4 first? or can i just wait until the system runs the cleanup agent on its own.
I dont know what is the exchange version you are using
in case 2003 then install SP2
