You cannot sort by this field

I am using Microsoft Outlook 2003 and when I click on the Categories column heading to sort Tasks by Categories I get an error saying that "You cannot sort by this field"
I think I started getting this error when I changed the Label of the Categories column to Projects which you can do by right clicking on the Categories column heading and selecting Format Columns. I have since changed it back but I still cannot sort Tasks by Categories.
I've discovered a workaround that allows me to right click on the Categories column heading and selecting Sort By>Categories but I'm wondering how to get the default behaviour back.

Also I created custom categories that were not in the Master Category List. I think I have added them all to the Master Category List but still no luck.

Check that the latest Office SP is Installed:

Otherwise, might try using Clean Views.
Close Outlook, then go to Start>Run>Outlook.exe /cleanviews

* Note: This Command Line Switch will clean (remove) all Custom Views and restore them Outlooks Default Settings, One only needs to recreate them after running the switch.

Now try to sort by Categorie
