"Updates from HP Agent" slowing system down
"Updates from HP Agent" is a global start-up item on my system. It is slowing my system considerably and making me crazy. Is this a necessary item?
I've tried ending the process, but there are other "agent" processes that seem to be doing the same thing/taking over when HP Agent is stopped, ie, sloooowing things down.
In Task Manager, under Performance, CPU usage jumps up and down from 4% to 100%. I've run HijackThis and ComboFix and have attached those logs if they would be helpful.
Also, on the ComboFix log there is C:\HP\bin\cloaker.exe. Sounds sinister. lol
thanks for your help!

It may have wiped out updates that were downloaded but not installed. It would not have uninstalled any updates that were already downloaded and applied. What makes you think that it wiped anything out? Are you having a specific problem with the system after uninstalling it?

After uninstalling HP Agent and rebooting, I got error messages about something trying to use 969% of the connection (whatever connection that is) and that I should reconnect to a different human interface (don't quote me on this!). a window showed 3 USB options, each of which indicated about 10-11% usage. This is what alarmed me and prompted to ask about the effects of uninstalling HP Agent.
However, since then, I've done a registry cleaning and rebooted, and it seems to be fine. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the error message/alarm was an aberration. One can hope.
