SQL SP, to convert data in one table over to another is very slow. Ideas on how to improve Speed?

Last Modified: 2011-10-19
I am running two SP's on a SQL 2005 Server. Tables the data is being copied from = MDist and the Table being inserted into are Distributions, Errors, Nodes, Packages and Status all within one DB Named "DMS".
I have one SP that runs and calls another. Stored Procedure names are "ConvertToDMS" and it calls the "InsertToDMS" Stored Procedure. There are 230,000 records to insert from one table to the other. These two SPs took approximately 14 hours to run. That is just way to slow. I am going to attach the Two SP's in two separate files. Can a SQL Expert giving me any ideas on how I could get this routine to run more quickly?
