DHCP on WAN Interface - Cisco 881
I have a Cisco 881 IOS Version 12.4(15r)XZ2. I need to configure the WAN (FastEthernet 4) port to get a DHCP address from any available DHCP server on any network which it might be attached to. all I have done to the router from factory default is:

en
conf t
hostname cart1-rtr1
int fa 4
no shut
ip add dhcp

The WAN interface will not get a DHCP address from certian LANs which use an IP helper. IE it will get a DHCP address on one of our LANS which is directly attached to the DHCP server, but not the other LAN which uses an IP helper to get to the DHCP server. What am I missing?

FYI.... YES the DHCP server and IP helper work on that LAN and have been tested with other DHCP clients.

A router is a networking device that forwards data packets between computer networks. Routers perform the "traffic directing" functions on the Internet. The most familiar type of routers are home and small office cable or DSL routers that simply pass data, such as web pages, email, IM, and videos between computers and the Internet. More sophisticated routers, such as enterprise routers, connect large business or ISP networks up to the powerful core routers that forward data at high speed along the optical fiber lines of the Internet backbone. Though routers are typically dedicated hardware devices, use of software-based routers has grown increasingly common.
