Looking for a realativly good, simple proxy server

I have a client that wants to monitor what websites users on the network are going to, but not spend a lot of money. They want to be able to monitor from a central location, not have to visit each desk to see. I was thinking about maybe installing a relatively simple proxy server and enable logging. Does anyone know of an inexpensive / open source proxy server that runs on a windows server? Or of another way to get the logging in a central location that is inexpensive?

I do agree with romans3 - although IPCop is a firewall, that incorporates Squid as mentioned above :)

With IPCOP you can then also block unwanted sites an so make surfing much safer for your company. "No accedental surfing of porn" ;)
Hey mate

You could build a cheap firewall / proxy server running on some old unused hardware.

Have a look at www.clarkconnect.com

Free to download & use, simple to install & configure and its FREE

I run it for several different customers and it works well & doesnt need the latest in hardware

Good Luck

Doesn't get any simpler than this one.
Smoothwall is another one. I have used it in the case of smaller networks. The web proxy is gui based so it is easy to configure.
Sophos!
its pretty cheap its hardware based, and does more than proxy (does AntiVirus, AntiSpy, AntiMal, etc).
I think you can even setup mail checking with it.

easy to use, lots o canned reports, and it uses LDAP.
