I want to add a free antivirus program so I can fix a laptop that I am unable to boot into, so I need something to check if a virus exists and if so delete it. Any help would be much obliged.

Why don't you just make yourself a UBCD4WIN? This is similar to BartPE, but includes more utilities, like several AV and anti malware tools. You can update their signatures before creating the CD, and most of them also allow you to update temporarily while running. Apart from that you can also run online scanners like trendmicro's housecall using them. This is much easier than creating your own plugins.

I not much of a fan of DOS based utilities. I tried the anti-virus and I could not get it to work. If you know how to use it let me know?

UBCD4WIN isn't DOS based. It is just like BartPE, but includes many ready built tools which are mainly windows based.

I have found a solution. I have bought power suite professional 2008 for all of my virus issues and other issues that arise too.
