companyb.com already have the domain companyc.com  so all fine for them

how does companya.com "mail from" companyc.com

This is very straight forward and you need to share the e-mail over two different e-mail  systems and the full instructions are here:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/321721

Basically, one e-mail system is configured to accept the e-mail for the new domain and this e-mail domain is configured as non authoritative (so that it is not the last hop in the domain). You then create a connector to the other e-mail domain and pass any e-mails that are not in the first domain to the other domain. You configure the second e-mail domain to send all e-mails through to the first.

It is pretty stright forward to implement.
