I currently have dual GeForce 9800GT vidio cards in my XPS computer.  they are currently supporting a Dell 19 inch monitor with a resolution of 1280 x 1024; and a Dell 24 inch monitor with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 .. i have "split" the drivers for one to support the 19 inch and the other to support the 24 inch.  The monitors are connected into DVI ports #1 and #3.... i am interested in replacing the 19 inch monitor with a 30 inch with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 ... the info on the 30 inch monitor states "Please make sure that your PC either has or can support a dual-link DVI-D graphics card before purchasing this monitor."... can i do this?  how do i do it?

You just need to confirm that your graphics card supports 2500 x 1600 dual link DVI ==> the answer for a 9800GT is YES ... it will work fine with a 30" display.

does this mean that there are two cables coming form the 30 inch monitor?  if so do those two cables connect into one graphic card and the single cable for the 24 inch monitor into the other graphic card?

No, it's just a single cable.
