Error message when trying to restore deleted mailbox

I deleted and purged a mailbox and I need to restore it.  I'm running a restore using backup exec 11d to a Exchange 2003 standard.  I've setup the Recovery Storage Group which all seems fine.  The restore almost completes then errors out right at the end (see attached files).  When I go to RSG I can see all the mailboxes but errors out when I try to run Exmerge.  I'm assuming from the error that its a permissions thing somewhere but I'm not sure what to change.  The job history for the restore error gives me this link "http://www.symantec.com/business/support/knowledge_base_sli.jsp?umi=EvtID=V-79-57344-33928" but those all seem to deal with backups not restores.  This is driving me nuts...thanks for any help you can give.

Okay Basically you cannot use RSG to recover the deleted Mailbox, This is because of the msExchmailboxGUID attribute , please refer to the following article from Microsoft.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/824126

However there is a workaround to it.

1. Create the test user account. Do not create a mailbox for the user account.

2. Reset the MsExchRestore attribute on both the Recovery Storage Group, and the recovered mailbox store using Adsiedit:

Expand the Configuration Container node, and then browse the hierarchy to:

    DC=Domain
    DC=com
    CN=Configuration
    CN=Services
    CN=Microsoft Exchange
    CN=Microsoft
    CN=Administrative Groups
    CN=Administrative Group Name
    CN=Servers
    CN=ExchangeServerName
    CN=InformationStore
    CN=Recovery Storage Group

   Right click for Properties on the Recovery Storage Group, ensure that the checkbox for "Show Optional Attributes" is checked. Scroll down to the "MsExchRestore" attribute. Double-      click the MsExchRestore attribute and check the
<Not Set> parameter. Click OK, Apply, and OK to exit the properties pane.

Right click the "CN=MailBox Store(ServerName) under the Recovery Storage Group, and select Properties. Ensure that the checkbox for "Show Optional Attributes" is checked. Scroll down to the "MsExchRestore" attribute. Double-click the MsExchRestore attribute and check the <Not Set> parameter. Click OK, Apply, and OK to exit the properties pane.

Close the AdsiEdit mmc

3. In Exchange System Manager select the Recovery Storage Group, right click and select Refresh. Expand the Recovery Storage Group, then the mailbox store.

4. Select "Mailboxes" under the Mailbox Store, then right click the mailbox to be recovered, and select "Reconnect". The applet "Select a New User for this Mailbox" applet will appear. Enter the alias of the user you wish to associate with the recovered mailbox into the "Enter the Object Name to select" data entry field, the click "Check Name". The alias of the user should be resolved to the full display name. Click OK. You will see a pop-up stating "The operation has completed successfully".

I created an account with no exchange mailbox called "test user".  I get to step #4 and I'm assuming i need to reconnect this mailbox to the test user account I created in step #1.  When I reconnect I get the attached error.
Do I need to reconnect it to the user account that it belongs too?  If I do it doesn't resolve the user.

Yes if you can disconnect the actual user from the mailbox temporirily & connect that user with this mailbox to extract the data that will be great ...

Once that has been done you can reconnect the new mailbox again

That seemed to work.  What I had to do was delete the mailbox for the user jayo in the first storage group then in the RSG i reconnected it to the jayo account.  The FSG is still displaying the mailbox for jayo with 0kb of data and there is also the jayo account in the RSG.  Do I now need to move this recovered mailbox to the first storage group?
