APACHE ANT EMAIL

Hello,
I would like to set up an email task in ANT. but, am not sure how to implement that. Coz from my knowledge, build automatically exists when it fails.
I donot want to do this - search log for build fail message and send an email if found.
Is there a good practice to catch the exact step where of fail and send an email  with appropriate information when ever if does fail . Thanks in Advance !

What is running your build task?  Is it command line or do you have some sort of continuous integration?

I am manually running ant from command line as of now.
