SO_LINGER invalid value

I have a proprietary CNC machine who's controller has a small  embedded web server that is used only for machine diagnostics.  Diagnostics are accessed via a browser from a PC over the network or directly through a laptop.   We have no control over the web server settings so I know it's not something we changed.  The unit was recently replaced and since we got it back we are getting and "Invalid value in SO_LINGER" error when we try to access the diagnostics (a java program).  The machines web page is displayed correctly. We just can't access the diagnostics portion of the server.  It's been a very long time since we used this function.  I was wondering if the browser version had anything to do with the error.

as you have no access to the web server use a sniffer or proxy to analyze the HTTP traffic, for Firefox browser you can use LiveHTTPheader Extension.
Please post result from sniffer for the request and the response wher you get this error.

Very sorry about the delay getting back to this. I intend to try connecting with an older browser tomorrow and also check the HTTP traffic for this machine and post the results.

I spent some time this morning working with this machine and I have discovered that the unit will communicate properly with Internet Explorer versions 5.5 and below but I get the SO_LINGER problem with IE 6 and above.  Any ideas on that?

Thanks

What does it mean to be "Always On"?

Is your cloud always on? With an Always On cloud you won't have to worry about downtime for maintenance or software application code updates, ensuring that your bottom line isn't affected.

Just a long shot, but is it possible to run 2 versions of IE on one PC without dual booting?  It didn't seem likely to me since Windows and IE are so tied together now.

yes, search for multipleIE (it has some dragons like proxy settings, as usual with everything M$-based)
