I have recently purchased a new desktop running Windows Vista 64. I am trying to install the latest version of Quicktime. Each time I start an installation I get an error message that there is alread an installation in progress. I have rebooted  and re-downloaded the installation package with no luck, Any input would be appreciated.

Printed this out a while back when I had a similar problem. Hope this helps.

Launch Task Manager. If there are TWO instances of msiexec.exe running, end one of them.
That is the quickest way to see if the install will complete.

If that doesn't work, Download, install, and run this Microsoft utility to clear up the installation in progress
