I simple want to setup automated verification process that sends an email to an administrator. We have files delivered nightly that are moved shortly there after across out enterprise but we recently have been having a problem that needs to have time stamping applied to validate the actual time when the files arrived. We also would like to notify the administrator of the actual name of the file.

The files are eventually imported into SQL but I probably should not have included in that zone as that's not where the problem lies.

I ended up using a visual basic script that checks for the presence of the files and outputting the results into a flat file.  I then import the flat file in SQL, and run a SQL command to email me the results every morning.
