TFTP being blocked on server

We just setup a 2008 server. We are running Putty to connect to outside devices and Pumpkin on the server. The firewall is open to port 69, but we are unable to connect. The firewall is turned off on the server. Any ideas as to what I can look at and fix this would be great. Thanks.

Hi there!

I'm assuming you are getting a connection timeout message when you try and connect to pumpkin remotely. If this is not the case please say so.

Does pumpkin work locally? If you can't log on to pumpkin locally there is a problem with the listening port. Check your pumpkin configuration to make sure it's listening at port 69.

If it does work locally and you can't connect from a computer on the same subnet you should make sure no firewall is active on either machine. Try checking for the port availabilty using the following command:
telnet server_ip_address 69

If it works on your subnet but not from an extranet/the internet your firewall may be filtering the port, try making an ad-hoc rule in your firewall and give a specfic ip/port priority over all other rules to an real address from which you can test the connection. Use the basic telnet command I've provided above.

Let me know how it goes :)
