a lot of employers choose to tunnel all traffic when you connect to the vpn. They normally allow you to surf the internet through the corporate network but maybe your company is using a proxy that you need configured. Ask your admin staff about any proxy server

Why would that effect my internet locally? When  Iused the same process on a windows computer, it worked fine, but on the mac, my internet stops working . Is there a way to add the dns entry for my company into the cisco vpn dns setting somewhere? I dont see that in the mac network settings.
