apple iphone 2.1 returns error "exchange account cannot be verified" activesync

I am running Exchange 2003 Enterprise SP2 in a sinlge server environment behind an ISA firewall, and have configured activesync.  This has been running successfully for several years with Windows Mobile 5 & 6 devices.  We have a " verisign" certificate installed.
I cannot get my iPhone 2.1 to connect.  I have entered all details as I would for the Windows Mobile devices in many different combinations.  I have reset several times...and always returns an error "Exchange account cannot be verified"
The iPhone is able to connect to another organisations exchange server using activesync.

Does that site also have ISA server (if so, is it the same version you are on as you do not say what you have) active and are they on the same version of exchange?

I don't know if the successful site has ISA .  It's a university email account that I was testing with.  I do know that they run Exchange 2003 SP2.  
I am running ISA 2000.  My problem is that activesync works perfectly with my fleet of Windows Mobile devices, but not the iPhone 2.1

I have not tried ISA2000 with an iPhone - and as it is now over 2 years out of support I no longer have a test lab for it. That said, I know a number of people have had to apply this fix

Thanks for that.  I have ISA 2000 SP2.  I have implemented the registry fix but will have to wait to reboot the server after hours.
