_parent - meaning of undescore

Just a short question on the use of underscore in ACS2.0:
There are many cases I see underscore value:  "_ " - often when targeting a location or when defining a variable. I .e.
         var listA:List = evt.target._parent.listA_ls;
or
        gallery_xml.load("gallery_tween.xml")
I so far did not find any clarification on when exactly "_ " should be used or what it defines.
Anyone could help, please?

There is nothing like 'should' in that scenario...

Things like _root, _level0, _global or _parent are Flash reserved words Flash uses...
gallery_xml, image_mc or start_btn where you simply use '_' as a separator to read the variables/instance names better...
You sometimes create private variables with '_' in front like _page, _client so that it is easier to distinguish between private variables and public/global variables...
