I suspect I already know what the answer will be, but I want to throw it out at the experts here to see if anyone has found a way to do it.

We are upgrading some SonicWALL TZ170s to TZ190s. I was wondering if it is possible to Export a settings file from a SonicWALL TZ170 running the enhanced OS and import it into the 190s, also running the enhanced OS.

I suspect the answer will be no; I can't believe SonicWALL does not provide a solution for this.

Thank you.

I am not a sonicwall expert so not sure if the link for export/import of file would be possible between models; please look below:

http://help.mysonicwall.com/sw/eng/general/ui1/6600/Tools/Preferences.htm

I think if the exported file can be opened in a text editor then you can manipulate the file and get the meat of the data to make a file loadable on the new model.

Thank you.

Thanks for the comment, but I may have understated my knowledge of the technology. I know how to configure these firewalls and export/import settings. Being this is a security device however, the export files are not clear text and cannot be viewed in a text editor.

I have doubled the point value.

I have determined that what I am asking cannot be done so I'm accepting that as the solution, which I came up with on my own.
