Verizon broadband card disconnects automatically after I establish VPN and try to access Outlook or network drive.

Hi, I use Verizon USB727 NovaTel wireless broadband card to connect to the Internet.  I then VPN in to my server.  I use Windows server 2003 Enterprise.  When I try to access Outlook or network drive it disconnects me from the internet and I loose connection to VPN.  Have anyone seen this issue?

UB network connections tend to be quirky.
1) Get the latest firmware for your wireless connection as well as any routers on either end.

2) Test with different MTU values - see dslreports.com for some helpful programs for MTU testing.

I hope this helps !

I've had a couple end-users in the past month complain about quirky broadband, disconnects, etc....in both cases they contacted the vendor who replaced the faulty cards and all their problems went away.

We went through all the standard firewall, MS update, driver, etc. troubleshooting paths when it was simply hardware related. Worth a look before you pull too much hair out......

I figured it out.  In Windows SBS 2003, I reconfigured Routing and Remote Access through Server Management.  There is an option configure Remote Access under Internet and E-mail.

Thank you for all your help.
