Opening files on a sync drive takes a long time

Hi,

I've got a SBS2003 server, and I've set up the client machines to see one drive for documents, and they all have the sync arrow on, however when i open or save the documents they are really slow - as in a few minutes to open or close the docs....

Can anyone point me in the right direction to speed this up please? it really slows down the amount of work that can be done...

Thanks in advance

Make sure the Primary DNS is pointing at the SBS server IP on every workstation. (Set it manually)
If that does not work please post IPConfig/all of server and one slow workstation.

the router is 192.168.16.1
the server is 192.168.16.2

the machines are 192.168.16.60+
so the clients look at the server for dhcp and dns, however the server is looking at the router for its dns setting, is that right?

each time a user opens any file or folder it takes between 30 seconds and 1 minute... each save is the same, and it freezes the whole pc while it saves, however the sync does work fast etc, and everything seems ok :)

I dont understand why its so slow...

Server config should be like this:
 IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.16.2
 Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.16.1
 DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.16.2
 Primary WINS Server . . . . . . . : 192.168.16.2

SBS has to look at itself for DNS and use forwarders for Internet DNS. You can add them in the internet connection wizard (server management> to do list> point 2)
Please make the changes and rerun the internet connection wizard.(server management> to do list> point 2).
Restart server and workstations.
