Unable to create links via drag and drop in DW CS3 using property inspector

Something odd has happened in Dreamweaver CS3.

I use the property inspector panel to drag and drop text selections for making links, but now it won't create those links and more. Not by drag and drop, not by the drop down menu, not the file explorer.

The only way to create links is via 'insert link', or CTRL+L.

In order to actually get the links to 'stick' on selected text you have to do this:
Select text
right click and when CSS styles fly out pops out, only then can you create the link via drag and drop (BUT ONLY IF THE MENU STAYS 'ACTIVE')

As you can imagine this is pretty annoying. I'm guessing theres a problem with the CSS somewhere, but this bug happens across all my sites and even blank non CSS styled pages.

Any ideas?

Okay, slight change in definitions.

What you are trying to do is use the Link Target, not drag and drop links.  The "drag and drop" implies that you are dragging a file from the files panel into the code view, which should create a link to it and use the document title as the link text.  This feature is fairly buggy...

Using the little bullseye icon should not be buggy at all, but if the Property Inspector is not picking up the tags, you definitely have a corrupted install.

First thing to try is to close DW and then disable any extensions.  Reopen and see if that fixes things.

Hi chuckstar,

The drag and drop linking is buggy as hell.   Can you post a screen shot or two of what you are trying to do so I can replicate and test?

Thanks.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling DW, but no joy.

Ahh, ok. Wasn't sure of the terminology.
Disabled the one extension I had running, but still no joy. Will try a fresh install.

That was going to be the next suggestion, but to also run cs3clean before the reinstall.  Anyway, glad it got fixed.
