detect and install AIR from a CD/DVD

We plan to distribute Adobe air applications on CD/DVD.  The problem is that AIR (the runtime) has to be installed first before the system PC/Mac knows what to do with the .air file.  The ideal solution would be to have an app that can detect Mac/PC then detect if AIR is installed (if not install it) then launch the program installer (.air file).

Easy enough to do from a download.  But i can't seem to find any solutions for a non internet connected system installing from a CD or DVD.  Any ideas?

Air is a non runner if the Client computer can't (or the client can't be bothered to) install the runtime. Which will especially be a problem if the disk is going into a secure environment or a locked down pc where the client can't install anything.

I use Zinc to compile the swf into an application and just run (or autorun) the .exe/.app (PC/Mac) straight off the CD. No installation needed. A much tidier solution. Zinc isn't free however.
