lotus notes password change

In order to download emails from all accounts within a Lotus Notes server I need to set password for all users. What I've found is existence of C API function W32_SECKFMChangePassword. The problem is that this function requires the old password which I don't know.

Is there a way to change all the passwords with "only" administrator access to Lotus Notes?

Not that I know of.
You always need the old password.

Does the administrator have anything like administrator console where he can change other users' passwords? He can change with without knowledge of their old password as well, can't he? There must be a way how to change all users' passwords with knowledge of "only" administrator password.

No, there is not any way to do this in Notes that I know of.

You can delete the users and recreate them, but you have  to be careful about public/ private keys used to encrypt mail.

Since this is a Secure enterprise application, no single person can easily change a password.

There are password recovery options built in, if they were properly configured.

See the Admin client help regarding password recovery.

In addition, many places also keep the original ID and password somewhere, so that they can be recertified if needed.

I hope this helps !

Thanks for helping me with this problem.

So there is no way to change the password even in administrator's console?

Is there any easy and safe way to delete and recreate the account with new password but without losing any data (messages ...)?

Yes, via the admin client, you can delete an account but keep the mail DB ( it asks if you want to delay deletion, say yes )

You may lose access encrypted emails if you are using this option.

I always suggest that you have an OLD Users Directory that contains all of the users who normally are deleted, so that if they come back or you need public keys, they are available.

So create a new Public address book ( Domino Directory, from the template, and copy the person Doc over Before you delete.

This should be called Old Users or something similar and only have admin access.

I hope this helps !

I consulted this problem with another guy who understands Lotus Notes. He says that what I need for IMAP access is just internet password which can be changed by an agent without deleting them.

Do you know how to change this one? Or could you please point me to a documentation which may be useful to write such agent?

PS: Sorry for bothering you but this is a part of quite big project and therefore it'd be possible even to pay somebody for writing such agent. Anybody interested :) ?

Well writing an agent to change the Internet ( POP3 ) password should not be  a big issue.

Not sure if IMAP uses the same PW although it ptobably does.

change a field in a selected doc, this is a general agent that should also work for the Domino directory person docs.

I hope this helps !

Finally the problem was solved by writing an agent.
