hi, i have installed exchange 2007 in top domain successfully, when i am trying to install  exchange 2007 in child domain the setup / commands are completed, when starting to install microsoft exchange active directory topology service wont start and some times i get it to start but then the microsoft systemattendant service wont start.

when rebooting server after failed installation mad.exe hangs up the server and network card seems to be disconnected.

i have tried installing on windows 2003 64 bit and windows 2008 64 bit with the same issues.

can anyone help me`?

i have solved this my self, the problem was that a failed demoted domain controller still atced as schema master even if we had tried moving FSMO roles, we had to seize schema master role using NTDSUTIL, and change config in active directory sites ans services to the correct domain controller for replication from the top domain.

After i seized schema master role, rebooted all my domain controller and checked that my settings in active directory sites and services had the correct servers in each site, the system attendant service started after a reboot of the exchange server.
