Exchange Server 2003 and Outlook 2003 no profile connection

Added #2 exchange server into domain for the purpose of reading old emails from backup tape. When changing the server in Outlook from #1 server to #2 server the server alwayd reverts back to original #1 server. The #2 server first storage group is mounted and operational. Need to read older emails asap. Thanks

your Active directory store where the user should get its mailbox from - you cant force this in outlook - outlook will contact the server you put in and get reverted back.
you could use exmerge to get the users mail off server 2 into a pst and then open the pst

could the pst data being extracted from server#2 stay on server2 without the risk of corrupting data on server 1

once its a pst file you can do whatever you want with it - just go file open in outlook, find the old messages and drag and drop them into your live mailbox
